Questions about the Horse Boarding Agreement

The horses boarded, the type of board (full, partial, pasture, or stall-only self-care), the services included in the monthly fee, feed amounts, extra services and their prices, veterinary and farrier care, emergency care and a spending limit, health requirements, insurance, stable rules and riding, notice to end boarding, and removal of the horses.

Where LeaseCraft has verified at the official source that a state's equine activity statute requires or allows a warning notice in a written boarding contract, the agreement prints that notice word for word. Where a state appears to require a warning whose wording LeaseCraft has not verified, or requires wording LeaseCraft cannot print, LeaseCraft does not prepare the agreement for that state and says so before you pay. Where LeaseCraft has not yet verified whether a state requires a warning, the agreement is prepared without one and you will see a note saying so before you pay; confirm your state's rules locally before signing.

You name the owner's veterinarian, an emergency contact, and a spending limit per horse per emergency. If neither the owner nor the emergency contact can be reached, the stable may approve the treatment a veterinarian recommends up to that limit.

Yes. One agreement covers up to five horses boarded by the same horse owner, each listed with its name, breed, age and sex, color and markings, and any registration number. The monthly fee is set per horse and totaled.

After the number of days you choose, the stable may give written notice and then use the remedies available to it, including any lien, only as the applicable law allows. The agreement does not state any state's lien rules; check them before acting.
