What this document does

An individual names an agent (and, if they wish, a co-agent and a successor agent) to handle their money and property, with the powers they choose category by category, effective immediately or on incapacity, and prepared with the signing formalities LeaseCraft has verified for the selected state. It is not a health-care power of attorney or a living will, and LeaseCraft prepares it only in states whose execution rules it has verified at the official source.

Questions about the Durable Financial Power of Attorney

It lets you (the principal) name an agent to act for you in money and property matters you choose - bank accounts, real estate, taxes, benefits and so on. "Durable" means it keeps working if you later become unable to manage your affairs. It does not cover health-care decisions.

No. LeaseCraft prepares it only where it has verified the state's signing rules - witnesses, notary and any required wording - at the official source. In other states the wizard says so and, where a state requires its own official form or notice, points you to it.

The document is prepared with the witness lines and notary space your state's verified rules call for, and a checklist beside it explains who may witness, whether a notary must acknowledge your signature, and any recording rule, each with the statute and the date LeaseCraft read it.

Making gifts, changing beneficiary designations, creating or changing trusts, and changing rights of survivorship can move your property to other people. The document grants each of these only if you initial it by hand, and it expressly withholds the ones you do not choose.

LeaseCraft is not a law firm and the document is prepared from your answers without legal advice. If you have a blended family, a beneficiary with special needs, business interests, a taxable estate or property in more than one state, talk to a lawyer before you sign.
