What this document does

A stand-alone lease between a landowner and a hunter or hunting group giving hunting rights on the landowner's property for a season or date range, covering the property, the game and methods allowed, the named hunters and guests, rent and payment dates, stands, feeders and food plots, vehicles, firearm safety, the lessee's duty to follow game laws and hold licenses, the landowner's retained uses, a release and indemnity, insurance, and ending the lease for violations. It does not lease the land for any other use, and it is not a guided or outfitted hunt contract.

Questions about the Hunting Lease Agreement

The property and its boundaries, the lease dates, the game and methods allowed, up to five named hunters and any guests, the rent and when it is due, stands, feeders and food plots, vehicles, gates, fires and trash, firearm safety, the landowner's retained uses, a release and indemnity, insurance, and ending the lease for violations.

Yes. The lessee can be a person or a club, and up to five named hunters are listed and sign the lease. You set how many hunters may be on the property at once and whether each may bring guests, with limits and an optional guest fee.

No. It makes the lessee responsible for knowing and obeying the game and firearm laws, holding the required licenses, and following seasons and bag limits. Feeders and bait, if allowed, may be used only where and when the game laws allow them.

Yes. The lease grants hunting rights only. You can list the uses the landowner keeps, such as farming, livestock, or timber, and the hunters must work around them and pay for any damage they cause.

The landowner can end the lease at once for serious violations such as a game law violation or unsafe weapon handling, or bar one person. You choose whether any unused rent is refunded in that case.
