Indiana notice periods
Each period is the one LeaseCraft's record of the statute holds. Read it with the conditions under it: some periods are minimums and some apply unless the lease sets another. "Lease controls" means the record holds no statutory period for that situation, and "No pre-suit notice" means it holds no notice before filing. The source column shows the law and the date LeaseCraft read it on the official site (most recently 2026-09-27).

What the Indiana statute says
Ending a month-to-month tenancy: 30 calendar days
- STATUTE SAYS 'one (1) month notice in writing, delivered to the tenant' for a tenancy at will (IC 32-31-1-1); a general tenancy with landlord's consent is a month-to-month tenancy (32-31-1-2); for periodic tenancies of not more than three months, notice equal to the interval between periods suffices (32-31-1-4).
Exceptions
- Does not apply to land used for agricultural purposes (32-31-1-2).
- No notice required where the lease fixes the termination time (32-31-1-8).
Ending a week-to-week tenancy: 7 calendar days
- Periodic tenancy of not more than three months extending period to period: notice equal to the interval between periods (one week for week-to-week) (IC 32-31-1-4).
Tenant staying after the lease ends: No pre-suit notice
- No notice required to terminate where the landlord rented for a specified period or the contract specifies the termination time (IC 32-31-1-8(1)-(2)) or the tenant is a tenant at sufferance (32-31-1-8(4)).

Preparing the notice
The form asks for the tenancy, the date the tenant must leave and how the notice is delivered, and states the notice period plainly. You enter the period; where LeaseCraft has verified the Indiana period for ending a month-to-month tenancy, it refuses a shorter one.

A notice is not a court order and does not by itself remove a tenant. Cities and counties can add rules. LeaseCraft is not a law firm and this is not legal advice.
